  1. Why does Dante split this circle into 10 different parts? Do they deserve to be separated?

Why is the circle shaped the way it is? (with the stone in a circle 10 deep)

Why did Dante put frauds and thieves in a lower circle than murders and suicides?

Why does each circle in the 8th circle punish their dwellers in the way Dante describes? Do they deserve this punishment?

Why does Dante place giants in this circle? What do they represent?

  2. 1. What is the significance of the 10 pits (evil pouches)? Do you think it was necessary to create different pits?

    2. Do you think these people belong together in one circle? Do you think they belonged in a lower circle than some of the others?

    3. What is the significance of Ulysses, being in the eighth bolgia?

    4. Why do you think Fortune Tellers/Diviners are in this circle (Bolgia 4)?
